Blog post #6

PLN is extremely important to education? PLN is called Personal Learning Networks. For EDM310 I was assigned 2 sights to go to for Personal Learning Network. The websites were called Symbaloo and Netvibes. I took it upon myself and chose Symbaloo, which was more suitable for me.

What are Personal Learning Networks? PLN is a function where people set up numerous ways to coordinate their teaching and learning. There are many teachers in the world who all can share their learning. One example that was given was Facebook. Facebook can help you stay connected with many teachers and other countries. There are so many ways of learning. PLN helps you organize and manage your learning.

How can they help you as a teacher? PLN is great for communicating with different teachers around the world. PLN is also a fast way of becoming a great teacher through the learning tools it consist of. There are many different avenues to reach the minds of students and so with the various resources available, the mind and learning of the students is not limited to just one style of information for learning purposes.

How are they formed? There are extremely many different sites that you can create PLN accounts. One site to use is Netvibes. PLN is used by many people all over the world for educational purposes. Educators all over the world blog and tweet each Other.

How can you create your own PLN? There are numerous tools and sites to create you a PLN. When on the internet, and using the information through vital resources such as Twitter, Youtube, KhanAcademy, and Symbaloo. It is not just limited to one site, or one place, but the network created can be used in creating learning methods.

Who will be the first additions to your PLN? Personally, for me, versatility is what makes the world less boring. I would like to get in contact with teachers from other countries. Not that the education in our society is bad, but with a new perspective and a different set of eyes on education, the heights that can be reached, are unfathomable.

  1. I really like your idea to get in contact with teachers from other countries. This will be a great perspective to see the differences in education in other parts of the world. I also find that versatility makes learning less boring. If we can use many different resources for learning, we can have fun in doing so.
